Horse Float Storage Brisbane

Somewhere to leave the float that is not the driveway. Open-air bays on sealed bitumen at $250 a month including GST, with 24/7 gate access, CCTV and drive-in, drive-out parking at Archerfield.

Why People Move a Float Off the Property

A two-horse angle load takes up most of a suburban driveway, and a three-horse or a gooseneck takes more than that. The usual reasons people call us are the ordinary ones.

  • The float lives at home but the horse is agisted somewhere else, and the driveway is a car short every day of the week.
  • Some body corporates and estate covenants restrict a trailer or float being parked in view.
  • The float is only used for a handful of events a year and it is taking up the second car space in between.
  • Someone has moved from acreage to a suburban block and the float has nowhere to go.
  • The float is for sale and it needs somewhere secure and reachable while people come to look at it.

Getting In and Out With a Float on the Back

This is the part that matters most and it is the part most storage yards handle badly.

Our bays are drive-in and drive-out on sealed bitumen. You are not reversing a float down a narrow aisle between roller doors, and you are not manoeuvring on gravel. The yard is hard-surfaced throughout and it stays that way in the wet.

675 Beaufighter Avenue sits in the Archerfield industrial pocket beside Archerfield Airport, close to the Ipswich Motorway and the Beaudesert Road corridor. If you are heading south or south-west towards the acreage belt, or out along the Logan Motorway, you are on a main road within a couple of minutes of leaving the gate rather than towing through suburban streets.

Access at the Hours You Actually Travel

Events start early. If you are on the road at 4:30am you cannot use a yard that opens at 6am, and you certainly cannot use one that opens at 9am.

Our gate runs on a PIN, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, included in the rent with no after-hours fee. For comparison, checked on 7 August 2026, Storage King Acacia Ridge opens at 6am, Bob's Storage at Acacia Ridge at 5:30am, and Storage King and National Storage at Salisbury both at 9am. More detail on our 24/7 storage page.

The Honest Bit

The bays are open air. No roof and no walls. Your float sits out in the weather exactly as it would on a driveway, so if you want it under cover this is not the right yard. On the other hand there is nothing overhead, so height is not a constraint for a tall float. Length is the constraint, and goosenecks and extended floats usually run past 6m.

There is no power on the yard, on the bays or in the containers. You cannot run a light, a charger or anything else.

This is storage, not agistment. No horses, and no live animals of any kind, on the site at any time. The float travels empty.

Bring a torch after dark. The yard is gated and CCTV monitored, but with no power you will want your own light if you are hitching up before sunrise.

Tack, Rugs and Feed

Plenty of people who take a bay also take a container, because the float is only half the problem. A 20ft container is roughly 6m by 2.4m, about 14 square metres, and it is a short drive across the yard from your bay, so you are not carrying saddles across a car park.

It is ventilated but not climate controlled, and there is no power, so treat leather and rugs the way you would in any unpowered shed. Feed cannot be stored here. Animal feed is on our prohibited items list because it attracts vermin, and so are gas bottles and fuel.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will my float actually fit?

A standard bay is 6m long, so two-horse angle loads and straight loads are straightforward. A three-horse, an extended float or a gooseneck can run past 6m. Measure yours, and if it is over 6m call or text Jason on 0452 043 647 with the length before you book.

Can I get to the float early on a competition morning?

Yes. Your PIN works at any hour, every day of the year including public holidays. No booking and no phone call.

Can I leave the car here and take the float, or the other way round?

Yes. The bay is yours for the month and it does not matter which of your vehicles is sitting on it.

Is the float insured while it is stored?

Your own insurance continues to apply and you should tell your insurer where the float is kept. We do not insure customers' vehicles or trailers. See our storage insurance guide.

Can I wash the float here?

There is no wash bay and no water on the bays themselves, so a proper wash needs to happen elsewhere. There is a water tap at the entrance to the facility for a quick rinse.

How long can I keep it here?

As long as you like. It is month to month with no lock-in, so a single season is fine and so is several years. See long-term storage.
