Why outdoor storage beats indoor for large items

Indoor self storage is great for boxes, but anything bigger than a bedroom suite gets awkward and expensive fast. Outdoor storage Brisbane facilities like Storage Land charge by the bay or the container, not the square metre. A 20ft container at $349/mo holds 3-4 bedrooms of furniture.

What you can store outdoors at Storage Land

Cars, vans, utes, trailers (camper, box, car, boat), boats, caravans, pop-tops, campervans, compact motorhomes, jet skis and food vans. A standard bay is 6m long and that applies to everything on this list, so measure your vehicle first. Anything longer than 6m will not fit a standard bay, and larger touring vans and Class A motorhomes usually are. Call or text Jason on 0452 043 647 with the length if you are close. We also do BYO container storage if you have your own 20ft container. The yard is sealed bitumen with no grass for tyres to sink into.

Outdoor storage Brisbane pricing

Vehicle, boat and caravan outdoor bays start at $250/mo. 20ft container units (drive up, weatherproof) are $349/mo. 40ft container storage (we supply) is $650/mo. All prices include GST, no lock-in contracts, 30 days notice to vacate.

Security at the outdoor yard

The entire Storage Land facility is fenced and gated with electronic access codes per tenant. CCTV monitors the yard 24/7 and is recorded to off-site storage. Storage Land has 200+ 5.0-star Google reviews from customers who store everything from $50K boats to high-value touring vans.

FAQs

Is outdoor storage Brisbane safe for valuable vehicles?

At Storage Land yes - fully fenced, gated, 24/7 CCTV recorded to off-site storage, individual access codes per tenant. We have customers storing boats, caravans and classic cars worth over $200K each.

Will my caravan or boat get tyre damage on outdoor storage?

Not at Storage Land - the entire yard is sealed bitumen, not grass or gravel. No mud, no soft spots, no flat batteries from sinking into wet ground.

Can I access my outdoor storage 24/7 in Brisbane?

Yes - every tenant has 24/7 gated access via their personal code. Great for tradies starting work at dawn or weekend warriors hitching up the caravan at 5am.

Is outdoor storage Brisbane cheaper than indoor self storage?

For anything larger than a small bedroom load, yes - significantly. Storage Land outdoor bays from $250/mo, 20ft container units $349/mo, both priced well under equivalent space at the indoor chains.

What actually matters in an outdoor yard

Open-air storage sounds like the simplest product there is, and that is exactly why the differences between yards get missed. Four things decide whether your boat or caravan comes out the way it went in.

The surface. Ours is sealed bitumen hardstand. On gravel or crusher dust, jockey wheels and stands sink after a wet week, trailers sit unevenly and you get ruts you have to reverse out of. On grass it is worse.

The ground level. Our yard is elevated. In this city, where a yard sits relative to a creek is not a small detail.

The boundary. Fully fenced and gated with PIN entry and 30+ cameras. Ask any yard whether the fence is continuous and whether entry is logged to an individual code.

Getting in and out. Drive-up access, 24/7. A bay you cannot reach at 5am on a Saturday is not much use if the point of the boat is early starts.

Preparing something for outdoor storage

Outdoor bays are for things built to live outside, but a few minutes of prep makes a long stay easier.

  • Wash off salt after any trip. Salt left on a trailer or hull does its work slowly and quietly.
  • Cover it if you have a cover, and make sure the cover is tied down rather than flapping.
  • Leave it level and chocked, with the handbrake off if the manufacturer recommends it and chocks in place instead.
  • Empty anything perishable. No food, ever, anywhere on site.
  • Disconnect or remove batteries if it is going to sit for months. There is no power in the yard, so a trickle charger is not an option here.
  • Check your tyre pressures before it sits, not after.

Outdoor bay or container, if you are unsure

An open-air bay at $250 a month is right for anything on wheels or a trailer up to 6m: cars, boats, caravans, camper trailers, jet skis, box trailers, tracked and wheeled plant. A private 20ft container at $349 is right for anything that needs to be enclosed and locked: furniture, stock, tools, boxes. If you need both, the combo is $599, which is one site, one bill and one gate code.

What outdoor storage is not

It is not covered. Your boat or caravan is outside on sealed ground in a secure yard, not under a roof. If you need it enclosed, you want a container. And there is no power to the bays or the containers, so nothing that needs charging while it sits.
