The Housing Commission started work in 1950 on 480 hectares that the Serviceton co-operative had bought four years earlier to house ex-servicemen, and the street map still reads like an aircraft register: Wirraway, Corsair and Kittyhawk around the civic centre on Inala Avenue, then Lapwing, Skylark and Swallow further out. By 1956 there were around 7,000 people living on a plan that had been drawn all at once. When we make sense for an Inala household, and when we do not
Whole-of-house storage, a move with a gap, a trailer or boat with nowhere to live, business stock: all good. A handful of boxes: no, you would be paying for a full container and using a corner of it, and we would rather say so than take the money. Anything needing power or refrigeration: no, there is no power to the containers.
