Tarragindi Storage - 15 Minutes Through Moorooka to Archerfield
Tarragindi is one of Brisbane's most-renovated suburbs. The old Queenslanders and postwar homes along Toohey Road, Venner Road, and Moolabin Avenue are being restored, extended, and reimagined at a steady pace. If you're mid-project and need somewhere to put everything while the work happens, we're 15 minutes away on a straight run via Moorooka.

Why Tarragindi residents end up needing storage
Tarragindi is a suburb that doesn't sit still. The housing stock is older - a lot of weatherboard and Queenslander homes that are either being lovingly restored or completely transformed. Restumping, reroofing, new kitchens, full extensions that add another storey to a modest postwar house. These are not weekend projects.
A full Queenslander restoration can take six months or longer. During that time, the contents of the house have to go somewhere. Friends' spare rooms run out fast. Leaving furniture wrapped in plastic in a garage that's also being used as a construction staging area doesn't work well. That's the primary reason Tarragindi customers come to us - they need a clean, secure place to hold everything while the work happens, with the ability to visit when they need something.
The other Tarragindi factor is car-dependence. There's no train station in Tarragindi, and bus options are limited. Residents drive everywhere, which means driving to storage is unremarkable - it's just part of how the suburb operates.
The nearest storage options to Tarragindi are in Moorooka or toward Salisbury - mostly smaller indoor units designed for a box or two, not for the contents of three bedrooms and a kitchen.
What a major renovation looks like in storage terms
Before the build starts: You pack up the affected rooms and bring everything to the container. Furniture is moved in first, stacked carefully. Boxes fill the gaps. If you're doing the whole house, you might need two containers side by side - we can usually arrange adjacent units if you book both together.
During the build: You have 24/7 access to your container. This matters more than people expect. You'll retrieve the tool kit you forgot to leave out. You'll pull out a piece of furniture to check it fits the new layout. You'll repack boxes as you sort through things during the downtime between stages.
When the build finishes: You give us 30 days notice, move everything back in, and cancel. No minimum term, no penalty for finishing earlier than expected.

About the facility
675 Beaufighter Avenue, Archerfield is a purpose-built storage yard. The surface is sealed bitumen - no mud, no gravel, no waterlogging after heavy rain. Containers are elevated on timber blocks to keep air circulating underneath and prevent moisture from wicking up from the ground into your belongings. The whole site is covered by CCTV 24 hours a day with secure perimeter fencing.
You provide your own padlock. We don't hold a key, and nobody else does either - access to your container belongs entirely to you. We've held a 5.0-star Google rating across 155+ reviews. For the customers storing the contents of their home for months at a time, that track record matters.
Questions Tarragindi customers ask us
We're doing a full Queenslander restoration in Tarragindi - restumping, reroofing, and replastering. We'll need storage for at least 5-6 months and possibly longer. How does month-to-month work for a long project?
Month-to-month means exactly what it says. You pay for each month as it comes. If the restoration takes 5 months, you pay for 5 months. If it drags out to 8 months, you continue paying as long as you need the container and cancel when you don't. There's no minimum commitment and no penalty for staying longer than expected. We have customers who booked for "a few months" and have been with us for years because the project kept evolving.
Can I put shelving inside my container to keep things organised?
Yes - the container is your space for the duration of your rental. Many customers bring in freestanding shelving units to organise boxes, tools, or stock. Just note that shelving needs to be removed when you vacate - the container goes back as it arrived. Fixed or bolted-in modifications are not permitted, but freestanding organisation is completely fine and encouraged.
Our removalist will be making several trips to load the container. Can a removalist truck access the yard?
Yes. The driveways on site are wide enough for a standard removalist truck, and there's open space to manoeuvre. You don't need to be present for every drop-off if your removalist has the access details - just let us know that's the arrangement. We have several customers who give trusted third parties access to bring items in.
Are the contents of my container insured against theft or damage?
The facility has CCTV, secure fencing, and individual padlocks - but we don't provide insurance for the contents of your container. This is standard across self-storage facilities. Check whether your home and contents insurance policy extends to items in off-site storage (many policies do, at least for short periods), or arrange a separate storage contents policy. It's worth a quick call to your insurer before you load up.
We have antique furniture and some family heirlooms from the Tarragindi house. Is it sensible to put these in a container?
Containers are not climate-controlled, which is the main consideration for antiques and heirlooms. Most solid timber furniture, metal items, upholstered pieces, ceramics, and household antiques in good condition store fine with basic precautions: furniture blankets for padding, a moisture absorber inside the container, and keeping items off the floor. Very sensitive pieces - veneered furniture, oil paintings, or items already showing humidity damage - are better in a climate-controlled indoor facility. If you have any doubt about specific items, a conversation with an antiques conservator is worth it before you commit.
If the renovation wraps up earlier than expected, can we leave before 30 days notice is up?
The 30 days notice is the only requirement - there's no penalty for leaving earlier than you originally estimated. You give notice when you're ready to vacate, and the contract ends 30 days later. Many renovation customers find their timeline shifts longer rather than shorter, but on the occasions things finish ahead of schedule, there's no penalty for clearing out early.
