Your storage agreement
Every Storage Land customer signs the SSAA Standard Self Storage Licence Agreement (2025 edition) when they book. That signed agreement is your contract with us, and a copy is kept in your customer account. If you would like another copy, call or text us on 0452 043 647.
Your agreement allows us to publish Specific Terms for particular services on our website. The Specific Terms below apply to every customer at our Archerfield facility and form part of your agreement.
What you can't store - Prohibited Goods
Your agreement defines Prohibited Goods. In plain English, you must not store anything that is hazardous, dangerous, illegal, stolen, flammable, explosive, environmentally harmful, perishable or living, or anything that could put a person or property at risk. That includes lithium-ion batteries and items containing them, except as allowed in the Specific Terms below.
Examples of goods you can't store include:
- Loose fuel, jerry cans, spare gas cylinders, paint, solvents and chemicals
- Fireworks, ammunition and explosives
- Food, animal feed, plants, soil and anything living
- Asbestos, rubbish and contaminated or hazardous waste
- Damaged, swollen or water-affected lithium-ion batteries, and lithium-ion batteries held as business stock
- Stolen or illegal goods
Goods must also be dry, reasonably clean, and free of vermin, mould and food scraps.
Specific Terms - vehicles, boats, caravans and trailers
These terms apply to any vehicle, vessel or trailer stored at the facility, whether in an open-air bay or inside a container.
- Fuel and batteries fitted to the vehicle are allowed. Fuel in the vehicle's own fixed tank, and the batteries fitted to it (including the drive battery of an electric or hybrid vehicle), are not Prohibited Goods while these terms are met.
- No leaks. The vehicle must be free of fuel, oil and other fluid leaks. If a leak develops, you must fix it promptly, and you are responsible for any clean-up.
- No spare fuel. Fuel may only be kept in the vehicle's fixed tank. Jerry cans and other loose fuel containers are not allowed.
- Gas cylinders. LPG cylinders fitted to a caravan, camper or boat must be turned off at the cylinder valve and secured in their mounting. Spare or loose cylinders are not allowed.
- No charging on site. Vehicles, batteries and equipment must not be charged at the facility, and chargers, extension leads and battery maintainers must not be left connected.
- Safe condition. The vehicle must be in a safe condition. Engines must not be left running inside a container.
Specific Terms - tools and battery-powered equipment
Power tool batteries and battery-powered tools and equipment (including e-bikes and e-scooters) may be stored for personal or trade use, as long as:
- the batteries are undamaged, with no swelling, cracks, leaks or water damage;
- nothing is left on charge or connected to a charger; and
- loose batteries are kept in their case or a closed container, off the floor.
Lithium-ion batteries held as business stock or for resale, home or solar battery systems, and any damaged battery remain Prohibited Goods.
Your responsibilities stay the same
These Specific Terms only clarify what you can store. They don't change any of your other obligations under your agreement, including your responsibility for your goods and for any damage they cause. If we reasonably believe something in your space is unsafe, we may ask you to remove it, and the access and inspection terms of your agreement apply.
