It was released as a housing estate in 1976 and separated from Belmont in 1980, and at the last census nearly 89% of homes here were detached houses, the most house-dominated suburb on our list. Upfront: is Carindale too far from us?

Often, yes. If you need weekly access to a few boxes, we are the wrong answer and something closer to Old Cleveland Road will serve you better. Where the drive stops mattering is a caravan stored for the winter, a boat between trips, or a whole household held between settlement dates. Twenty minutes once a month against $250 or $349 is an easy sum. We would rather you did that sum honestly than sign up and resent the drive.

Then renovators, because a full renovation on a detached Carindale house means emptying it and the garage is where the builder wants to work. Getting from Carindale to the yard

West via Creek Road and Kessels Road, then down to 675 Beaufighter Avenue, Archerfield. About 20 minutes. When you arrive you drive up to your own container and reverse the trailer straight to the bay, which is the part that saves the time back.

Bring your own container and you are renting the hardstand: $270 for a 10ft, $349 for a 20ft, $649 for a 40ft (by enquiry). Month to month, no bond, no admin fee.

Boats, caravans, trailers, utes, tracked and wheeled plant all welcome on the open bays. No power to the containers, so battery chargers, fridges and anything climate controlled are out.
